How we test, rank, and verify UK gold and diamond buyers.
[PLACEHOLDER] We identify UK gold and diamond buying services through a combination of market research, reader submissions, and industry monitoring. A buyer must meet minimum criteria to be included: they must be registered with Companies House, have a verifiable physical address or registered office in the UK, and have been operating for a minimum of 12 months.
[PLACEHOLDER] We submit standardised test items to each buyer through their normal customer process. Test items are pre-weighed on calibrated scales and pre-tested for purity using XRF analysis. This gives us a known theoretical maximum value based on the LBMA AM Fix gold price on the day of the buyer’s valuation. The buyer’s offer is then recorded as a percentage of this theoretical maximum.

Secondary ranking factors include turnaround time, minimum weight accepted, insurance coverage, and customer review scores from Trustpilot and Google Reviews.
[PLACEHOLDER] We re-test the top five buyers every quarter and all listed buyers at least once per year. If a reader reports a significantly different experience from our published data, we initiate an ad-hoc re-test.

This referral relationship never influences rankings — a buyer with a lower payout percentage will always rank below a buyer with a higher one, regardless of whether we have a commercial relationship with them.
