This isn’t a scandal — it’s just business. But it means UK gold sellers have never had a genuinely independent source of information. No one is comparing buyers side by side using actual payout data. No one is explaining the brutal reality of diamond resale values. No one is writing tax guides in plain English or helping the hundreds of thousands of people with Asian and Middle Eastern gold that doesn’t carry UK hallmarks.
That’s what GoldBuyerCheck does.
We compare gold and diamond buyers by testing their actual payouts against the LBMA benchmark price. We publish our methodology so you can see exactly how we rank them. We write guides that explain carats, hallmarks, CGT rules, and the difference between scrap value and resale value — all from the seller’s perspective, in language that doesn’t assume you work in the jewellery trade.
We make money through referral partnerships with vetted buyers. When you click through to a buyer we recommend and complete a sale, we may receive a commission. This is how we keep the site free. But we never let referral relationships influence our rankings — a buyer with a lower payout rate will always rank below a buyer with a higher one, regardless of commercial terms. We publish our comparison methodology precisely so this commitment is verifiable.
